bmurator KuKu again! I just cannot get enough of that voice - like a female version of David Bowie. The first song, in particular, reminds me of "Wild is the Wind"... :) I simply cannot get enough & very much look forward to the rest! Highly recommended!!!

Edit: Finally back & able to appreciate the delights of this... :) Every song a gem & highly recommended again!!!

The tiger has stripes The tiger has claws Those eyes like two hot coals Such powerful jaws (Le tigre a des rayures Ses griffes sont si pointues Des yeux comme des charbons ardents Mâchoires puissantes) The hunter threatens harm The girl with all her charms The tiger loves fresh meat So sound the alarm (Le chasseur avec son arme La fille avec son charme Le Tigre aime la chair fraiche Tirer la sonnette d'alarme) The lion is strong The snake has sneaky skill But the tiger is stealthy The chase is her thrill (Le lion est fort Le serpent est rusé Mais le tigre est furtif La poursuite l'amuse) The hunter threatens harm The girl with all her charms The tiger loves fresh meat So sound the alarm (Le chasseur avec son arme La fille avec son charme Le Tigre aime la chair fraiche Tirer la sonnette d'alarme) Will the tiger get you? Or will he bend to your will And who will be smiling Going in for the kill? (Le tigre t'aura-t-il ? Ou seras-tu trop fort Mais qui sourira Se lancer dans la mise à mort?) The tiger loves fresh meat The tiger loves fresh meat So sound the alarm So sound the alarm So sound the alarm

You've seen me walking down your street Everyone's looking at my feet As I go through town The mountains can crumble to the sea And the sky can fall But you won't stop me... Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Wearing my veil and Dior shoes All over town Why should a poor girl have to choose Between God and high heeled shoes? Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Does he love me for my body? Does He love me for my soul? Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Wearing my veil and Dior shoes Dior shoes Dior shoes Dior shoes

about

This is the 'lite' version of the first KuKu Club Quarterly package - but believe us, calling it 'lite' is *definitely* underselling it! You still get 14 fabulous new tracks, including the first ever digital release of CouCou's original English EP, and some beautiful previously unreleased gems most of which aren't even on the subscriber version. Of course, you're still missing out if you don't subscribe - the full versions of the magazine and podcast are twice as long, you don't get the full album length set of original demoes for what became the 'Metal Product' album or the stereo versions of the CouCou material and lots if other goodies. And of course, by subscribing, you get both packages anyway, so you never miss a thing Ku releases. But on the whole, we think this is a lovely package and Ku is really proud to offer it up to you whether you subscribe or not.

A note on the music: in addition to the first ever non-analogue release of CouCou's first Disque Vogue/Pye EP from 1964, we've also included two tracks from the otherwise subscriber only 'The "Urbane" Demoes' release. What became the 'Metal Product' album was originally going to come out in four different versions - French, Synthetic pop, Metal and Dub (!!??)) In the end, only the metal and French versions survived, and even then in a very different state from that originally intended, so you can stil get a taste of what the Synthetic pop version was going to sound like here. We're also including three outtakes from that selection: 'Shirley Trampled', the incredibly funky original Chic-style demo of another 'Urbane' track, 'Last Night on Ebay Saved my Life' and the Tom Waits-like 'The Seed' as well as fabulous curiosities like a jazz version of another 'Urbane' demo that eventually became a very-different sounding song on 'Metal Product' - we won't spoil the surprise! Ku is particularly fond of her song Velma' which, as you'll hear, would not have found a place on Metal Product' but is presented beautifully here in two earlier versions than the one featured on the "Urbane" demoes. Finally, there's another exclusive to this set - an unfinished, unused version of "War of Attrition", which is available in its original demo forms on the subscribed version.

Visually, although you won't get the beautiful set of stills Ku used in the 'Bullet Me' video, there's still a gorgeous 70 page booklet with carefully chosen selections from the full 140 page KuKu Club Quarterly photojournal. This issue runs from December 2023 to the end of February this year and covers the CouCou in Paris period as well as the Metal Product artwork. The booklet features raw, unused or alternative images of Ku produced in the preparation of the finished artwork for her most recent and forthcoming releases. It's a beautiful insight into Ku's chaotic but fascinating workflow. We just know you'll enjoy even this glimpse into her strange but alluring output.

Finally, there's an edited version of the very first episode of 'Salut avec CouCou', an ingenious podcast which has utilised AI to bring the 17 year old CouCou of 1964 back to glorious life! You'll genuine believe you're huddled under the sheets in your Rive Guache student quarters with your ear pressed up to the crystal set as her magical tones introduce the great sounds of the yé-yé era! There really is only one word for it: "tres formidable!!!
